STUDENT TRANSFER INFORMATION
Yorktown Community Schools has recently determined that limited space for additional non-resident transfer students may be available in sixth (6th) grade and ninth (9th) grade for the 2025-26 school year. The district will now accept transfer applications for those grades and will continue to accept applications until June 6, 2025. An application is not a guarantee of acceptance.
Yorktown will continue to accept applications for new non-resident transfer students in the following grades through June 6: K, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9. The other grades are already over capacity for 2025-26. If needed, a public lottery will be held at the regular School Board meeting on June 17 to determine who will be accepted.
A transfer student is one whose legal settlement is not within the boundaries of the Yorktown Community Schools district, which includes all of Mt. Pleasant Township, Delaware County, Indiana. Yorktown has accepted many transfer students over the years and intends to continue on a limited basis. Yorktown will comply with the provisions of IC 20-26-11-32 in regard to transfer students.
Requests by parents, guardians, or custodians of Indiana students who do not have a legal residence within the boundaries of Yorktown Community Schools but who wish to enroll their child in the school corporation will be considered, see the attached Transfer Student Procedures for details.
All applications must be received prior to Friday, June 6, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. to be eligible for a lottery draw during the school board meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
All applications, agreements and new student registration forms must be returned to Yorktown Community Schools, Administration Building, 2311 S. Broadway Street, Yorktown, IN 47396 or emailed to [email protected].
