School safety: At this time, we wanted to share a few safety procedures that have been and will continue in all schools in our efforts to ensure student safety.     
    All school have been and will continue to follow lockdown entrance procedures;
    All schools participate in lockdown drills;
    All staff are trained on lockdown procedures;
    Five administrators are trained as School Safety Specialists; 
    Trained counselors and/or social workers are available at each building to assist students; and 
    Local law enforcement agencies participate and are trained in active shooter training.

 Parents can assist at home by doing the following:
    Limit students’ media exposure;
    Be honest with your own emotions while modeling strength;
    Do not try to keep the tragedy a secret;
    Listen to your child’s concerns; and
    Ensure your child that principals and teachers are prepared to keep them safe at school.

Due to our high expectations and history of excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities, there continues to be a high demand for transfer opportunities to our district.  We offer an impressive curriculum and a plethora of academic programs and services to meet the needs of nearly every student who enters our schools.

As superintendent of Yorktown Community Schools, I am honored to serve our schools and accept the unwavering obligation to lead.  Having fulfilled the role as a teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of Yorktown, I am proud of our district’s strong commitment to students and the opportunities to which we offer them.  As a district, we pride ourselves on the commitment, excellence, and opportunities which guide our efforts.
